Our Story

In the 1920's, Makitaro Tamura opened his first store — Tamura Shoten — on the main street of Waianae. It was more than a store; it was a gathering place, a cornerstone of the community, and the seed of what would become one of Hawaii's most beloved family enterprises.

Makitaro eventually passed the store to his son Katsuichi, who renamed it K. Tamura Store — today known as Tamura Super Market. The spirit of service and quality that Makitaro instilled carried forward through every generation.

In 1995, Herbert Tamura and his son Glenn Tamura ventured out to create Tamura Enterprises, Inc., launching the Fine Wine & Liquors division that would redefine Hawaii's wine and spirits landscape. Today, Tamura Enterprises operates three grocery stores, four Fine Wine & Liquors locations, and one takeout kitchen across Oahu and Maui.
